Reflection Prompt

Can you embody the light out there? Can you light the path for those around you? Reflect upon this. This is self study (svadhyaya) in action.

We meet a Gemini full moon on November 23. It’s officially Sagittarius season, but wait–

The vibe of Gemini, the archetype of the trickster, makes things a little janksy rn.

We’re coming out on the other side of Scorpio season, aka the time of year when the deep deep, the subconscious, seemed to be bursting out from our insides. What we’ve kept inside and largely unconscious was vying for our attention. How did you do?

And now, the holidaze is upon us, too. All the face stuffing, gift giving, end-of-year partying can be overwhelming (possibly triggering, too, when we bring in family obligations).

It’s adding to the energetic crunchiness–and are you even dealing with Mercury being retro rn?

I’m saying! It’s all the feels.

Emotional information overload. But the Sag in you wants you to explore it out. Go beyond your know boundaries of what you can handle (or not).

Sagittarius

Mercury retrogrades do us the solid of allowing us insight and direct-access to our intuition, which is basically information in a pure form. All of the containers (labels, judgments, even well meaning classification and taxonomy) divide us from the information and its sources.

The time around emotional overloads are very good points of departure. They are times when we want to ride the Witness, engage the ability to achieve distance, make space between the stimulus and sensation, and see what’s there. That’s when we get some really great direction about where to goStrong emotional reactions are cues that some archetypal dissonance is happening. On a deep level, something isn’t vibing. Where is that in you? And when you locate feeling, then try and locate the source (the trigger, the exchange), so you can start to establish self care to counteract.

Gemini

You can de-fuse your emotional bombs.

Remember, self reflection is just a practice. The Witness practice. The more you do it, the more you obtain information through the distance and space you make between yourself and a situation. The more you can map the cause-effect relationships, and the more you can make conscious choices. The closer you come to understanding what’s ticking before you explode and melt down.

There’s so much potential to transform with all the information. Go out there and get it.

REFLECTION PROMPT: Recall a situation that felt really emotional. Then, write 5 “If, then” statements, like a play-by-play retelling of the scene. “If he did x, I felt y.” What do you find? Is this exploring new ground in yourself opening up things you didn’t see before?

Reflection Prompt

Like to use creative writing as part of your self care practice? Here’s a reflection prompt for you to consider. If something in these words catches your attention, sit with it. The prompt is meant to engage the iterative processes through which we create our mindscapes. These reflection prompts stimulate self study (svadhyaya).

We meet a full moon in Aries on September 25.

The vibe of Aries, the archetype of the person putting-stuff-into-action, invites the spark to get it started. Let yourself into yourself, listen inside to what your inner voice says is beginning and/or different from before.

You’ll know what it is when you hear it.

And it’s a dynamic time to listen, too. Listen while the full moon light is turned way up.

Libra

Libra

We are steeped in a balanced ratio of light and darkness care of the vernal equinox. Right now, the sun is fresh in Libra and themes of balance and justice are turning up. The Jewish tradition is honoring traditions of reflection and atonement around a new year. Pagan traditions are honoring harvest and abundance.

This is also the time in our zodiacal journey that we transition from working with celestial influence and energies around our selves and inner lives to energies related to others and communities. There will be more darkness than light in our physical experience (in the northern hemisphere).

So what is this full moon showing us? Rather, what can we hear that might be an extension of the seeds that were planted in the dark around the Virgo new moon two weeks ago? Now is the opportunity to see yourself in the inside and outside spaces. Bask in the brilliance of who you are and who you might be; relish potential–your own, the Earth’s and what she offers, the change in the experience of time–and align with the abundance with the bounty from six months full of sun.

REFLECTION PROMPT: What is beginning for you now? Who is inside?

Reflection Prompt: Eclipse Season

Here’s a reflection prompt, culled from evolutionary astrology forecasts for the iterative processes through which we create our mindscapes and engage our cultural space. These reflection prompts intend to stimulate self exploration.

The time period during eclipses can feel more dramatic, more emotional, more electric. Solar eclipses stimulate things that are coming into our personality (ego experience) and lunar eclipses disseminate things that are leaving that filtered-vision of reality.

We met a solar eclipse on July 12 (paired with a new moon, working in the areas of home and baseline power vibes). We will meet a lunar eclipse on July 27 (paired with the full moon, working in the areas of tribes and teachings and carrying the Mars retrograde two-steps forward, three-steps back flavor of this summer). Then, in August, one more solar eclipse on August 11 (paired with the new moon, working in the area of your potentially bestest, brightest, show-stealing persona).

There’s a lot going on outside and within.

The July solar eclipse might have really ripped into you. It affected the tender areas and might have wrung your being out from your mind to your heart to your tummy. The July lunar eclipse might do the same, double dutch, since the Martian flavor can make the tender areas burn. When you make it to the August one, how are you going to wear your shiny, polished mind armor, phoenix?

REFLECTION PROMPT: How do these words feel: personality, home, baseline power, tribe, teachings?

Extra strength RX: Take reflection time to listen. Open to a blank page. Gaze upon in. Be quiet in the space of unwritten words, and let the universe do it’s job while you do yours to be human and bear witness. Insights might come that help you use the potential of this reflection space (a charged point in time and space).
