Reflection Prompt

Like to use creative writing as part of your self care practice? Here’s a reflection prompt for you to consider. If something in these words catches your attention, sit with it. The prompt is meant to engage the iterative processes through which we create our mindscapes. These reflection prompts stimulate self study (svadhyaya).

We meet a full moon in Aries on September 25.

The vibe of Aries, the archetype of the person putting-stuff-into-action, invites the spark to get it started. Let yourself into yourself, listen inside to what your inner voice says is beginning and/or different from before.

You’ll know what it is when you hear it.

And it’s a dynamic time to listen, too. Listen while the full moon light is turned way up.

We are steeped in a balanced ratio of light and darkness care of the vernal equinox. Right now, the sun is fresh in Libra and themes of balance and justice are turning up. The Jewish tradition is honoring traditions of reflection and atonement around a new year. Pagan traditions are honoring harvest and abundance.

This is also the time in our zodiacal journey that we transition from working with celestial influence and energies around our selves and inner lives to energies related to others and communities. There will be more darkness than light in our physical experience (in the northern hemisphere).

So what is this full moon showing us? Rather, what can we hear that might be an extension of the seeds that were planted in the dark around the Virgo new moon two weeks ago? Now is the opportunity to see yourself in the inside and outside spaces. Bask in the brilliance of who you are and who you might be; relish potential–your own, the Earth’s and what she offers, the change in the experience of time–and align with the abundance with the bounty from six months full of sun.

REFLECTION PROMPT: What is beginning for you now? Who is inside?

Reflection Prompt: Eclipse Season

Here’s a reflection prompt, culled from evolutionary astrology forecasts for the iterative processes through which we create our mindscapes and engage our cultural space. These reflection prompts intend to stimulate self exploration.

The time period during eclipses can feel more dramatic, more emotional, more electric. Solar eclipses stimulate things that are coming into our personality (ego experience) and lunar eclipses disseminate things that are leaving that filtered-vision of reality.

We met a solar eclipse on July 12 (paired with a new moon, working in the areas of home and baseline power vibes). We will meet a lunar eclipse on July 27 (paired with the full moon, working in the areas of tribes and teachings and carrying the Mars retrograde two-steps forward, three-steps back flavor of this summer). Then, in August, one more solar eclipse on August 11 (paired with the new moon, working in the area of your potentially bestest, brightest, show-stealing persona).

There’s a lot going on outside and within.

The July solar eclipse might have really ripped into you. It affected the tender areas and might have wrung your being out from your mind to your heart to your tummy. The July lunar eclipse might do the same, double dutch, since the Martian flavor can make the tender areas burn. When you make it to the August one, how are you going to wear your shiny, polished mind armor, phoenix?

REFLECTION PROMPT: How do these words feel: personality, home, baseline power, tribe, teachings?

Extra strength RX: Take reflection time to listen. Open to a blank page. Gaze upon in. Be quiet in the space of unwritten words, and let the universe do it’s job while you do yours to be human and bear witness. Insights might come that help you use the potential of this reflection space (a charged point in time and space).

Reflection Prompt

Here’s a reflection prompt, culled from evolutionary astrology forecasts and inspired for use in the iterative processes through which we create our mindscapes. You are encouraged to explore your current experience within the context that your mind is working in (the astrological weather) and to engage your unique being (the soul) here in this time and place.

The time period of the days around a full moon is especially good for taking a step back and contemplating the events, including thoughts and feelings, that you  experienced since the new moon/beginning of the lunar cycle.

We meet a Scorpio full moon on April 29. This is the mid-point of the lunar cycle that began with an Aries new moon.

The vibe of Scorpio, the archetype of the actor, shines light on what Aries, the archetype of the person putting stuff in action, asked for. Let yourself into your life as an observer, and bear witness to what role you have been playing on your own stage. Did you start a new role?

The potency of the moment is double-dutch leveled up by the meeting of two asteroids: Juno and Chiron. Juno is the goddess of soul contracts (agreements that have been made related to causal action and its effects, related to the people and situations that are connected to you), and Chiron is archetype of the the wounded healer. A deep inquiry around patterns, feeling like you’re just repeating things over and over, is possible. A deep healing experience, recognizing the patterns and changing the way you fulfill them, is possible. A revised role is available.

REFLECTION PROMPT: What people and things that are part of static patterns have been showing up lately? Can you envision a revised role for yourself? Can you cultivate a love-filled release of that which doesn’t serve you anymore?
